OLMC Christian Service Award Winners

The school received a letter informing us that three eighth grade students, Gina Aguiar 8B, Christine Aguiar 8B, and Zuzanna Latocha 8B, each received a Christian Service Award, sponsored by the Catholic Community Foundation.  The Foundation gave out 29 awards this year.  Each award grants the recipient an annual $2,000 scholarship for 4 years to attend a Catholic high school.  Congratulations girls!

Learn About Tax Credit Scholarships

There’s good reason for parents to head over to Seton Catholic Prep while their students take the Catholic High School Placement Test at 8:30am Saturday, Jan. 7. Seton will also host a parent reception in the foyer of its new Fine Arts/Academic Building followed by a special presentation, “How To Apply for Arizona Tuition Tax Credit Scholarships.”

Jody LaBenz, CPA, will provide an overview of state tuition tax credit scholarships and the types of school tuition organizations. He’ll discuss how to navigate the maze of options and provide tips and ideas on how to identify and obtain sponsor donations. For more information, www.setoncatholic.org or call 480-963-1900, ext. 2008.

OLMC Wins Grant

The Catholic Community Foundation gives grants to schools to assist families in financial need. Last week OLMC received word that it had been given $4,000 for financial aid. Thank you Catholic Community Foundation and Mrs. Kristina Engelbert, who wrote the grant for the school.

9/11 Book from OLMC Mom

Donna Bird has written a book about 9/11 and its effect on her life.  Her husband, Gary Bird, died during the attacks.  One of her children was a student at OLMC at the time.  Her older child had recently graduated from the school.

Mrs. Bird’s book will be on sale this Sunday after Mass and later in the school office. It will also be available at several book signings in the Valley. Mrs. Bird will donate the proceeds from this book to the Gary Bird Christian Service Scholarship.  This award goes to a graduating OLMC student who will be attending a Catholic High School.

CTODP now Catholic Education Arizona

Did you hear that the Catholic Tuition Organization of the Diocese of Phoenix (CTODP), is now Catholic Education Arizona?

They are still the same great organization providing support to students attending Catholic schools – just with a great new name.  The new name better reflects who they are and their mission.  And, the name is sure a lot easier to say than C-T-O-D-P!

You will be receiving more information on how you can help our students continue to receive an affordable Catholic education by designating our school (code 122) as your donation recipient.

So, take a moment and visit the website, CatholicEducationArizona.org and make your donation today!
