School Mass on Friday

REMINDER: There is NO school Mass next Wednesday, May 23. The regular school Mass is moved to next Friday to mark the last day of school. Mass will start at 11:30am in the church, followed by dismissal at 12:30pm. All family and friends of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School are welcome. Students are reminded to wear proper Mass attire to school on Friday: uniform pants or skirts, no shorts.

Rosary Continues Next Week

The month of May is traditionally devoted to Mary as we Catholics take time to recognize her as Queen of Heaven and Mother of God. As part of our devotion, we are praying a decade of the rosary each morning through the end of school. We gather in our Prayer Garden near the Kindergarten/First Grade building, begin by the first bell at 8:05am and end by the second bell at 8:15am. This year our 5th Graders will lead the prayers. You are welcome to join us every morning or whenever you can.

Dr. SheridanParents: I find it hard to imagine that next week is the last week of the 2011-2012 school year. There are two changes from the usual routine which will occur during this time.

First, report cards will be distributed to the students on Friday. Grades will not be posted on RenWeb. The reason for this is that, per school policy, families which have outstanding tuition do not receive grades. The parish finance office has sent out statement at least twice in the past week in order to inform those in arrears.

Secondly, we will not have a school Mass on Wednesday. Instead, we will end the school year with a Mass at 11:30am on Friday. The students will be dismissed after Mass at 12:30pm to begin their summer fun.

2012-13 Forms Due

If you will have a child attending Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School next year, there are two more documents we need from you now: the Enrollment Contract and SurePay Authorization. Please note that we need a new SurePay form with a voided check each school year as required by the banks. We must have these documents in the school office by the final week of school May 21-25.

To determine your tuition payments for next year, see the Tuition Criteria 2012-13 Tuition Rates and Payment Schedule  posted on the school website. For any family who is registered at a parish other than Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, we also need a Parish Verification Form.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact me in the school office at gina@olmctempe.com all 480-967-5567 ext. 0.

Dr. SheridanParents: The class of 2012 graduates this Wednesday.  Graduations usually lead me to reflect on the past.  When I walk the hallway with all the class pictures, many memories are stirred about Falcons who preceded the current students.

From the earliest black and white photos, there are family members of mine, including my wife, and friends of theirs I have met over the years.  I can progress to pictures of parents and grandparents of present day students.  Finally, I reach those who have graduated during my tenure. They are forever 13 or 14 years old in these pictures.  But I have seen them later and learned how successful they are.  There is one who will be ordained soon.  There are two nuns.  There are lawyers, doctors, dentists, teachers, successful business people, professors and moms and dads.  Some even have their children now attending OLMC.  Of course, the younger graduates are still in school.

I wonder what the good Lord has planned for the class of 2012.  If they keep tight to Him and use the skills they have learned here, I know their futures will be bright.
