MathCounts at Mt. Carmel

Calling all students who are in the 6th, 7th or 8th gradeYou are eligible to join Math Counts!  Any student who enjoys math, problem solving, and puzzles should consider participating.  Math Counts meets after school on Mondays from 3:10 until 4:00 in room 8A (ending promptly at 4:00). If a student would like to participate in Math counts but has a time conflict, we will strive to make accommodations for the truly dedicated mathlete.

The school competition takes place in January and will be used to determine OLMC’s four person team.  The team will be decided by a combination of performance on the school competition and by total participation leading up to the competition.  The regional competition is in February, and the state competition is in March.  Students who compete in the regional competition (as a team member or as an individual) receive a t-shirt and ribbon, while those who made the team also receive a trophy/plaque.  The coordinator is Richard Reynolds, but if you have any questions please talk to the 8th grade math teacher, Olga Frietze.
