Commemorating our Lenten journey, the students will be participating in OLMC’s annual ‘Trek through the Desert’ March 23, 2016. This is a school-wide reenactment of the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt, in observance of Passover and the journey of God’s people to the promised land.
Students may get in the spirit of the day, by dressing as the Hebrews of Moses’ time, in some sort of robe or tunic, and a head-cloth. Bathrobes, an old towel or sheet with a rope belt, and a cloth for a head covering with a tie or elastic headband worn over the school uniform will do nicely. Do not feel the need to buy a costume for your child as the special dress for the day is completely voluntary.
The classes will be assigned to one of the 12 tribes of Israel, hear Old Testament readings, and reenact the Israelites’ fleeing from slavery. The journey will culminate in the church as the 8th graders present the Living Stations of the Cross. Families are welcome to participate. Please contact the school office for more information.
