Timmy Mulligan Wins Local Coding Competition

timmyOver the weekend, one hundred middle school and high-school-aged students from around the valley participated in Code Day, a local coding competition celebrating a national campaign to promote the importance of coding in twenty-first century technology.

Participating students were asked to design, create, and code a video game project to present before a panel of judges, parents, and their peers. OLMC 6th grader, Timmy Mulligan, was among the competitors, alongside his two teammates from Kyrene Middle School. Timmy and his teammates, Team Underdogs, worked through the night, and Timmy, himself, gave the demonstration presentation, speaking on behalf of his team.

Of the 17 teams present, Team Underdogs took home the Top Overall Award for the competition. The youngest and least experienced of the group, Team Underdogs represented the essence of the competition: focus, determination, and teamwork. The judges were impressed with their enthusiasm and skill. OLMC would like to congratulate Timmy and his teammates for this outstanding accomplishment. Way to go, Team Underdogs!
