At OLMC, we’re blessed to have an after-school program like no other. Our Kids Club is staffed with a team of caring individuals who provide helpful homework support, delicious snacks, fun activities, and a safe place for our falcons to socialize after school hours.
Maryanne Patterson, head of our after-care program, ensures everything is top notch and running smoothly. Maryanne is also an OLMC parent and long-time parishioner, who spent the early years of her motherhood as a stay-at-home parent and homeschooler to her six children.
What do you do for the OLMC community?
“I am blessed to wear several hats at OLMC! In the mornings, I work at the preschool as a 3’s lead teacher and catechist. In the afternoons, I coordinate the Kids Club after-school program for K-8th grade. I also help with the childcare ministry for the parish.”
What is your favorite thing about the OLMC school community?
“From the first moment we attended Mass at OLMC, I felt something very special about this community. I appreciated the reverence, joy, and warmth that I saw all around us. We could see good people of every age, background, and lifestyle all coming together to worship God as one true family, and we loved it! We’ve been so happy to attend a school with such loving and dedicated teachers where our boys could learn and grow with awesome friends. Our family is grateful for our home away from home, OLMC.”
What your favorite part of your role at OLMC?
“At Kids Club, we work hard to make the afternoons a positive experience for everyone. It’s so nice to watch the students playing together and forming close (maybe lifelong) friendships right before our eyes each day. One of my favorite quotes of all time is from Ralph Waldo Emerson, who said,
‘The greatest gift is a portion of thyself.’
I try to live those words in everything I do each day, whether it’s helping three-year-olds hold a crayon at the preschool or serving pretzels to hungry kids after school at Kids Club. I feel thankful every day to be a very small part of something so amazing here at OLMC!”
On behalf of the OLMC community, we’d like to thank Maryanne and all of our Kids Club counselors for their continued dedication to our OLMC students.
