This week, the 1st graders visited the Phoenix Zoo to learn about different types of animals. Home to more than 1,400 animals, the Phoenix Zoo gives visitors a better appreciation for all creatures and the world around them.

Leprechauns came to the 2nd grade and left letters, and Sister Maria Alejandra visited to talk to the students about the beauty of Reconciliation. Congratulations to the 2nd graders who made their First Reconciliation this past Friday. For more on 2nd grade faith formation, visit our website.

The 6th & 7th grade girls basketball team started their season with a definitive win against St. John Bosco. After three games the team is now 2 and 1 for the season. Come cheer on your Falcon ladies next Tuesday as they take on St. John XXII at 4:15 p.m.

And finally, a big thank you to Mrs. Iwan for her donation of a ukulele and a guitar to the OLMC Kids Club. Thanks to her generous donation, Kids Club offers one-on-one “coaching” (not formal lessons) to interested students of all ages. Two of our dedicated Kids Club staff members agreed to share their skills and love of guitar/ukulele in individual 10- to 15-minute coaching sessions adapted to the students’ own skill levels.

These donated instruments make it possible for the students to have hands-on time with an instrument without the inconvenience and potential damage of having to transport their own personal instruments to and from school.  The kids can learn notes, chords, and songs on the instrument at Kids Club and practice on their own instrument, if they have one, at home.  Students with beginning, intermediate, and advanced level experience are welcome!

If you have anything you think could be of use to our Kids Club, feel free to bring it by. We’re happy to accept any donations.
