Principal’s Corner – March 26, 2017
I would like to congratulate our sixth graders on their outstanding performance during Greek Night this past Wednesday. The evening opened with a Greek prayer followed by dancing, an outstanding play performance, and statues that came to life to relay historical information. The children did a phenomenal job, under the direction of our sixth grade teachers Mrs. Annette McDonough and Ms. Kelly Gilloon, along with help from parent volunteers Anne Marie Mulligan and Anna Aguilera. Bravo to all involved with the production.
Next week is the Parish Festival. We hope that you will bring your friends and families to enjoy the festivities and support the parish and school. There will be many games and rides, along with an assortment of food and beverages. We’ll have live music throughout the day, and our silent auction tent will be open for visitors to peruse and bid on items. Our live auction will take place at 4:30 p.m., and we have many exciting items available for bidding. We hope that you will join us for a day of fun and fellowship.
Please remember that this coming Thursday is a half day with a 12:30 p.m. dismissal time and that there is no school on Friday in preparation for the festival. There will be no learning labs on Thursday and any student remaining on campus at 12:45 p.m. will need to go to Kid’s Club.

How to Avoid Festival Hour Charges
The festival is just 6 days away. We still have many families who have zero or less than six of their required volunteer hours. Per the school contract if you do not complete your festival hours you will be charged $100.00 per hour not completed.
The signup genius for mandatory festival hours closes at midnight tonight, March 26th. After that time, please make any necessary modifications to your assigned festival hours with our volunteer coordinator, Ashley Hall. Be sure to see our blog to avoid festival hour charges.
ON THE DAY OF THE FESTIVAL:
All volunteers must sign-in at the volunteer booth located outside of the southeast entrance of McCready hall. For questions please contact our volunteer coordinator, Ashley Hall. Thank you for your support.

Festival Setup School Schedule
On Thursday, March 30, 2017, teachers will dismiss their classes at 12:30 p.m. to make way for festival setup. There is also no school on Friday, March 31, 2017. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the front office.
Have You Purchased Kids Raffle Tickets?
The OLMC Kid’s Raffle is underway! Flyers went home recently regarding the class prize structure and incentives including a Go Pro Camera for the top selling 6th-8th grade student. By purchasing kids raffle tickets yourself you could win:

- 3rd Prize: $250

We’ll be serving delicious soups from around the world, salad, bread, macaroni and cheese for the kids, and spectacular desserts. Come peruse the silent auction tent while the kids bounce in the bounce houses. Cost is $15.00 per adult, $8.00 for children aged 12 and under. A table of 8 is $125.00. April Food for Thought Contest
During the month of April, Home & School is conducting a Food for Thought contest to see which classroom can purchase the most FFT. The class with the highest total by the end of the month wins a prize! Questions? Contact our FFT coordinator, Cindy Younger.

School Advisory Board Secretary:
Meet MaryRuth. As a wife and mother of four current and former falcons ranging in age from five to 14, MaryRuth came to OLMC 11 years ago as a preschool parent, soon after her conversion to Catholicism. In her role as secretary of the School Advisory Board, she takes and distributes the board meeting minutes and brings a unique perspective to the board, as a parish volunteer and media professional.
Lunch Menus Through the End of the School Year Now Available
Note: Please ensure checks are payable to Casey Productions LLC. You may write one check for all students ordering lunch.
Also, the deadline to order lunches is Saturday at 5:00 p.m. for the following week. In addition, you have the option to order for the entire month (or months) at a time. Please visit the website for ordering information.
Spirit Day & Early Release – Apr. 7th
On Friday, April 7th, teachers will dismiss their classes at 12:30 p.m. Any child still on campus after 12:45 p.m. without a parent will be sent to Kid’s Club.
This day is also a jeans day for classes with 100% participation in soda donations. Qualifying classes may wear jeans with an OLMC spirit shirt. Your child’s teacher will inform his/her class if they have qualified.

This year OLMC parents will elect a School Advisory Board (SAB) member for a three-year term. The election will take place April 28th from 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. with a ballot box located in the school office.
Nomination petitions are available online or in the school office. Completed forms must be submitted by April 7th. Bios for all those running will be posted in the April 9th newsletter.

In order to receive a tuition rebate on your Fry’s purchases, please bring a copy of your Fry’s account statement that reflects the amount of your donation, and indicate the family name to which the rebate should apply. You may drop a printed copy off at the office, send it in with your child, or e-mail it to firstname.lastname@example.org by April 20, 2017. You may also drop off your statement at the FFT table at weekend Masses.

School Advisory Board
The School Advisory Board (SAB) advises the pastor and principal in matters relating to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School. The school board promotes a clear understanding and communicates the mutual educational responsibility of parents, teachers, and administrators. It assists the school in achieving the goal of providing a quality Catholic education to students by integrating the teachings of the Catholic Church throughout the educational process, and guiding students toward a conscious choice of living a responsible Catholic life. The mission of the OLMC Dad’s Club is to build better relationships with our fellow OLMC families and to help improve OLMC for our children. We appreciate all the efforts our dads give. The Dad’s Club does not have a requirement for how much our dads are involved, because any time spent attending a meeting, helping with the planning of an event, or providing assistance for a project will greatly benefit our children and our school. Our “dads” are any adult male figure in a student’s life, to include uncles, grandfathers, older siblings, etc. To find out more, see our website.

Children in the 3rd through 6th grade will experience the steadfast love of Jesus Christ through exciting games, activities, songs and more. Gear up for an over-the-top adventure. Volunteers are also needed (6th graders and up).
