School Advisory Board Candidates

Colleen Bruening

  • Children in Grades: 5th, 3rd, & 1st
  • Length of Time at Our Lady of Mount Carmel: 6 years as school parent
Personal Background

“I have been a member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Community since 1991. I am part of the OLMC graduating class of 1996, graduated from Seton in 2000, and received my bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in 2003. I have worked in the mortgage banking industry since my college graduation. I have three wonderful children, Jackson, Ella, and Luke.

In 2013, I had the opportunity to take a position teaching at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel’s preschool. Those three years serving in the classroom, getting to be closer to my kids, and getting to know so many of our OLMC children and families were an absolute gift. I fell in love with both teaching and being connected to campus, and am currently a certified substitute for kindergarten through eighth grade. I am also volunteering with Home & School as the cultural arts/field trip coordinator.”

Reasons for Seeking School Board Position

“I am seeking a position to serve the best parents I know by being their voice on the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School Advisory Board. I have so many amazing memories from my time here as a student, and I believe strongly in the strength of our community. I believe my experience as an alumna, parishioner, parent, teacher, and volunteer will help me to be an effective advisory board member. It would be such an honor to continue my involvement at OLMC, by helping to continue the great traditions of our school and fostering its future growth and success.”

Ashley Hall

  • Children in Grades: 3rd, 1st, & Pre-K
  • Length of Time at Our Lady of Mount Carmel: 5 years as school parent
Personal Background

“I am an OLMC alumna, class of 1996, and have been a parishioner my whole life. OLMC has been, and will forever be, home to me. My husband and I were married by Father Tim Davern at OLMC ten years ago, and when it came time for us to choose a school for our daughters, there was no question that we would send them to OLMC. We now have four daughters, Evelyn, Emelia, Ellison, and baby Eden. Staying home with my girls is my biggest blessing.

After OLMC, I attended St. Mary’s Catholic High School. I then went to Cottey College, a private women’s college, where I received my associate’s in fine art. I then returned to Arizona, continuing my education at MCC, where I received an associate’s in interior design. Finally, I attended ASU and received my bachelor’s degree in elementary education. I have been on the Home & School Board as a the volunteer coordinator creating and running the volunteer signup for the festival for the past four years.”

Reasons for Seeking School Board Position

“I am interested in being a member of the SAB because I have a passion for Catholic education and the community of OLMC. I enjoy being involved in the school and hope to use my time and talents to continue making a difference and helping the school grow to its greatest potential.”
