Principal’s Corner – April 9, 2017
Dear OLMC Community:
Easter break is upon us. On Wednesday, we will have our annual Trek through the Desert and Living Stations of the Cross. The Trek will begin between 8:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. with Living Stations of the Cross to follow at 11:15 a.m. Dismissal will take place at 12:30 p.m., and any student remaining on campus after 12:45 p.m. will go to Kid’s Club. Please come join us if you are available.
Thank you to those who supported the school Book Fair last week. All proceeds go to buying materials for our library for student use.
There will be no Learning Labs on Tuesday, April 11th.
April 18th is the deadline to take advantage of the state tax credit and make a charitable donation to OLMC through CEA. If you have yet to file your taxes, we would be grateful for your support. Thank you to all our families who have taken advantage of this opportunity this year.

2017-18 School Advisory Board Candidates
The School Advisory Board (SAB) election is Friday, April 28, 2017. Parents are asked to vote anytime between 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the school office. Voting will close at the end of the school day on April 28th. For more information please see our blog.

April Food for Thought Contest
During the month of April, Home & School is conducting a Food for Thought contest to see which classroom can purchase the most FFT. The class with the highest total by the end of the month wins a prize! Questions? Contact our Home & School Treasurer, Kristina Engelbert.

Dad’s Club Meeting – Apr. 10th
The Dad’s Club is hosting its monthly meeting:

Fourth Quarter Progress Reports – Apr. 12th
Progress reports go out Wednesday, April 12th at the end of the day via e-mail. Please contact the school office if you do not receive your child’s progress report by April 24th. To view the OLMC grading scale, please visit our website.

The OLMC’s Sr. Valeria Library and Media Center enriches the lives of our students by offering the information and resources they need to succeed. Named for former Principal Sister Valeria, our library offers state-of-the-art technology and over 12,000 books and literary sources.

- Don’t forget that the deadline for weekend Mass pick up is Friday at noon.
- FFT January rebate applies toward outstanding tuition and FFT May rebate applies toward books and fees for the following school year.
Annual Trek Through the Desert – Apr. 12th
Commemorating our Lenten journey, the students will be participating in OLMC’s annual ‘Trek through the Desert’ April 12, 2017. This is a school-wide reenactment of the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt, in observance of Passover and the journey of God’s people to the promised land.
Living Stations of the Cross – Apr. 12th
The 8th graders will present the living Stations of the Cross April 12th in the church after the Trek Through the Desert. Please join us for this moving portrayal of the Lord’s passion, death, and resurrection.

Pre-Order Your Yearbook Before Apr. 13th
The deadline to pre-order your 2016-17 yearbook is April 13th. Cost is $40.00 per yearbook. After that time, the cost will increase to $45.00 as supply will be limited. Questions? Contact the school office.
No School & Early Release for Easter Break
There is no school April 13th through April April 21st due to Easter break. Teachers will dismiss their classes at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12th. Any student remaining on campus after 12:45 p.m. will be sent to Kids Club.

STO Deadlines Fast Approaching
Families who are interested in receiving financial assistance from student tuition organizations should make note of the following application deadlines:
- Arizona School Choice Trust (ASCT) deadline: April 15th
- Brophy Community Foundation Scholarship round one* deadline: April 15th
- Catholic Education Arizona (CEA) application/contribution deadline**: April 18th
*Note: Brophy Community Foundation offers a second round of scholarship funds after the deadline, but the registration fee increases to $30.00, and they do not guarantee that there will be available funds. We highly recommend that interested families apply for the first round of scholarships.
**There is only one round of CEA funds this year, so please be sure to apply by the April 18th deadline.
Community Rewards Statement Due
– Apr. 20th
In order to receive a tuition rebate on your Fry’s purchases, please bring a copy of your Fry’s account statement that reflects the amount of your donation, and indicate the family name to which the rebate should apply. You may drop a printed copy off at the office, send it in with your child, or e-mail it to firstname.lastname@example.org by April 20, 2017. You may also drop off your statement at the FFT table at weekend Masses.

The FFT Deadline is Just 3 Weeks Away!
There’s still time to reach your FFT minimum and/or pad your tuition rebate! Statements were sent in January via e-mail to families who have not met their $175.00 FFT profit minimum for the 2016-17 school year.
If you’re planning on paying off your tuition, please stop by the FFT office and our FFT representatives can tell you if you have a rebate coming. If you have not yet reached your profit minimum, you have until April 30, 2017 to fulfill this obligation. Any amount remaining after April 30th will be SurePayed on May 10, 2017.
Save the Date: VBS – Jul. 17th-21st
Save the date! OLMC is hosting our annual Vacation Bible School (VBS)
July 17, 2017 through July 21, 2017
Children age three through the 6th grade will experience the steadfast love of Jesus Christ through exciting games, activities, songs and more. Gear up for an over-the-top adventure. Volunteers are also needed (6th graders and up).
Don’t Forget to Bring in Your Box Tops!
OLMC would like to thank all those who have donated Big ‘G’ Box tops for Education. Our last submission yielded almost 3,000 box tops for a total of $295.60 for Mt. Carmel! Keep bringing them in! You can submit them in our collection bin in the school office. Our next submission date is in May. Many box tops expire June 1st so please bring them in as soon as possible so we include them in our submission. Every little bit helps! Thanks, Mt. Carmel!
