Principal’s Corner – May 7, 2017

hermie

Dear OLMC Community:

On behalf of the faculty, staff, and administration, I want to thank our Home & School Board and all our families who made teacher appreciation week so special. Between the chalk affirmations written on the pathways at school, the flowers brought to the teachers, the endless amounts of treats and food, and the very thoughtful gifts, the week was fantastic and we are grateful.

I ask that our community prays for our 3rd graders and all OLMC students who will be making their First Communion/Confirmation on Saturday, May 13th.  This is an exciting day for both our students and their parents.

This week is our last credit card week for FFT for the school year. Please come take advantage of this opportunity and stock up on your FFT for the summer. We will have normal FFT hours with sales on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Sincerely,

Bruce Hermie
Principal
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic School

How FFT Helps our School: Scholarships and Tuition Rebates

Cost should never prevent a family from pursuing Catholic education. At OLMC, we strive to inform and educate our school parents of the best opportunities to make Catholic education affordable. One of the ways we do this is by providing tuition rebates for families who meet their $175 Food for Thought minimum.

How to Afford Catholic Education: Stewarship

Capture

OLMC provides an excellent opportunity for active members of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in our stewardship program. Did you know that stewardship families have access to most parish services at no cost,* including tuition at OLMC School? Family stewardship is the parish’s way of assisting families, who are actively involved in the parish, to afford Catholic education. Here are some of our most frequently asked questions>>

If you’re currently a stewardship family and wish to renew your Covenant Agreement, please contact Deacon Jim to schedule a time to meet with him. More information is available on the website. Please visit the parish website or contact Deacon Jim Brett at 480-967-8791, ext. 225 to learn more.

Top 10 Things to Do Before the End of the School Year

The last day of school is May 26th. Teachers will dismiss their classes at 12:30 p.m. This also ends the grading period. What follows is an end of the year checklist:

  1. Turn in all library books and ensure all fines are paid.
  2. Confirm that all school fees for the year are paid. You can check to see if you have an outstanding balance in RenWeb.
  3. Check the lost and found. All unclaimed items will go to charity or the used uniform sale over summer break.
  4. If you haven’t already, sign up for ShopwithScrip. Contact Cindy Younger for more information.
  5. If your child uses a chromebook, they are due during the last week of school for 6th and 7th graders. Eighth grade students should return their chromebooks May 12th. Please ensure the case and charger is also returned.
  6. Order school supply kits for your students for next year. A current list of school supplies is on our website.
  7. Sign up to help or provide food for the End of Year BBQ. Information to come!
  8. Submit box tops and Campbell’s soup labels for the final submission.
  9. If you so desire, contribute to the teachers’ end of the year gifts in the office.
  10. Check out the volunteer opportunities to decide how you’d like to help OLMC next year.

Also, don’t forget to schedule a meeting with Deacon Jim if you wish to become a Stewardship family. Note: You will not receive your child’s final report card until all loaned items are returned and all fines/fees are paid. Questions or concerns? Contact our school office at 480-967-5567.
