Falcon Five-2

1. PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Dear OLMC Community,

I want to begin by thanking all the parents who came out to the Kindergarten through 6thgrade Back to School Night. It was a great opportunity to get a glimpse as to what the students will be learning this year in their classes.

This week we will host our Junior High Back to School Night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22nd. The night will begin in the Church prior to moving to the classrooms. Please be reminded that this event is for parents only.

Thank you to the Dad’s Club for hosting such a fun event Saturday night. It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying themselves! BINGO was fun, the music was great, and the food was delicious!

This Friday is a half day with a 12:30 p.m. dismissal time. This is not a Spirit Day; therefore, the children need to be in regular uniforms please.

Finally, any parent who is interested in volunteering at the school must be Safe Environment Certified through the Diocese of Phoenix. If you would like to register for the class, please follow the link below. The foundational class is titled, “Keeping the Promise Alive”. All volunteers who have taken the foundation course must update their training with a video each year. The updated video can also be found using the link below.

4. “HOW TO AFFORD A CATHOLIC EDUCATION”

woman using space gray iphone xPlease join us on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. in the library for “How to Afford a Catholic Education”. This short seminar will share with you how your family and friends may redirect their Arizona state tax dollars as donations to a Student Tuition Organization (STO) and “recommend”  your student(s) for that donation. This is a wonderful way to assist you in giving your student the gift of a Catholic education and to help your household budget as well. Our presenter is Mr. Brian Sanders of AZ4Education Scholarship Foundation. Brian currently works with a large portion of our school families. He will share a slide presentation along with a question and answer session. The informative seminar will last approximately one hour.

5. BLOOD DRIVE

blood-drive Did you know . . . it takes eight donors to fulfill Arizona’s blood needs for just 15 minutes? When you donate blood, the life you save could be a friend, a family member or even yourself. You can give blood at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Blood Drive on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in McCready Hall. Appointments are now being taken. Please visit www.BloodHero.com (Sponsor Code: mtcarmel), or call the school Nurse’s Office at 480-967-5567 X 1 with your preferred time. Can’t commit to a time?
