Falcon Five-2

Dear OLMC Community,

I hope you have all had a restful and enjoyable Christmas break. I am excited to welcome the children back tomorrow. Even though they were only away from school for two weeks, they always seem to grow and change so much over the break! We have a lot of exciting things to look forward to this second semester.

On Monday, the kindergarteners will begin to play on their new playground! I appreciate everyone’s patience with this process. It looks wonderful. Thank you to Jeff Harb, owner of Harb Renovations, for all his hard work. Thank you also to the Dad’s Club who came out Tuesday night to help transport the old play set and clean up the playground. It looks amazing! I can’t wait to see the faces of the children and teachers when they see it!!

Report cards will be sent home on Wednesday, January 9th.

Friday, January 11this a half day Spirit Jeans Day. The children may wear their jeans and spirit shirts. They will be dismissed at 12:30.

Saturday, January 12this the HSPT for all the 8thgrade students who are applying to Catholic high schools.

Saturday, January 19ththe Dad’s Club will also be hosting Casino Night. If you have not had the opportunity to purchase your tickets, please stop by the office to do so. Additionally, we are still looking for sponsors. If you are willing to be a sponsor for the event, please let me know! Supporting Casino Night through your attendance or sponsorship is one way to help us raise the 20% we need for our portion of the Shea Grant. More about this fundraising is to come in future communication.

The last week of January is Catholic Schools Week. We will be looking for volunteers for Field Day on Tuesday, January 29th from noon to 3. We will also be collecting food for St. Vincent de Paul, and all the children will be working together to pack food boxes that week. As we get closer to Catholic Schools Week, an itinerary of all the events we have planned will be sent home.

Finally, as we begin the second semester, I want to take an opportunity to thank all our parent volunteers who give so much to the school. You truly help build community and enrich the experiences the children have here at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. If you have not had the opportunity to volunteer at the school, please stop by the office. We always have lots of things for you to do!

Happy New Year and God bless,

Kelly Shewbridge
