Falcon Five-2

1. PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Dear OLMC Families,

Conference slips went home this past week. Please make sure you return the form to your child’s teacher by Tuesday. Confirmation of conference times will be sent home on Thursday. Conferences will take place October 31-November 2. Please remember each of those days is a half-day for the students. The children will be dismissed at 12:30.

Trunk or Treat will take place next Saturday, October 27th. There will be food trucks for snacks or dinner, and these trucks only accept cash. There will also be music, face painting by the 7thgraders, and the Faith Formation Committee will have crafts for the children.

Thank you so much for all of the candy donations for Trunk or Treat. We had 100% school participation in the candy donation, so everyone will receive a popsicle treat on Thursday to celebrate. In addition, those classes who had 100% participation of their own have earned a Spirit Jeans Day for this Friday, October 26th. Check out this list to see if your class earned the jeans day. (If your class is not on the list, please dress in your regular uniform on Friday.) The big winners were from KB, Mrs. Montanez’s class, who earned the jeans day and an ice cream social with their donation of 49 bags of candy!

For those of you who have students in grades 6-8, please be aware that the Catholic high schools open houses are approaching. If you have never attended an open house at one of our Catholic high schools, it is a fantastic opportunity for you and your student(s) to tour the school, get information on academic, co-curricular and faith formation programs, and speak with school personnel to answer any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Kelly Shewbridge

Principal

1. PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Dear OLMC Families,

First semester conferences will take place October 31 to November 2nd. Each of those days is a half-day for the students. On Wednesday you will receive a conference sign-up slip that will be brought home by your student(s). Please fill this form out as soon as possible and return it to your child’s teacher. Confirmation of your conference time will be sent home on Thursday, October 25th.

Report cards will be emailed home on Wednesday, October 17th. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.

There will be some changes with Renweb this week. Renweb is merging with FACTS. The only change that impacts families at this point is that the site will look different. I have attached a flyer to the newsletter.

Thank you again for all of the candy that has been donated for Trunk or Treat. We are still looking for more families to decorate trunks. If you are interested, stop by the office for the form. Thank you!

I wish you all a restful and safe long weekend. Looking forward to seeing the children on Wednesday!

Sincerely,

Kelly Shewbridge

1. PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Dear OLMC Community,

This past week we celebrated the Pet Blessing. Mr. Salas sang for us and Father blessed the pets. Thank you both for this special celebration blessing pets on the feast day of St. Francis.

The first quarter ends this week on October 11th. Report cards will be emailed home on Wednesday, October 17th.

There is no school on October 12thdue to a Diocesan-wide teacher inservice. We will also have a brief Fall Break, so the school will be closed October 15thand 16th. We will return on the 17th.

The Home and School Board will be hosting Trunk or Treat on October 27th. Thank you to the families who have brought in candy. If you are interested in decorating your trunk, please send in your completed form. I look forward to this fun, family friendly OLMC community event!

We are beginning to collect food for the Thanksgiving St. Vincent de Paul community food drive we participate in annually. Included in the newsletter is information suggesting what each class is to bring.

As cooler temperatures approach, please remember that only OLMC sweatshirts and jackets can be worn indoors. When students are on the playground, they may wear a non-OLMC sweatshirt that is school appropriate. We will be selling the OLMC sweatshirts again towards the end of the month. More information to come!

Have a wonderful weekend!

trick or treat halloween themed illustration

The Trunk or Treat Candy Drive is off to a great start! Now don’t forget to register your trunk for OLMC’s FIRST annual Trunk or Treat! Get your form here, and return to the office by Monday, October 22, 2018.

Guidelines:
Decorate your vehicle for Trunk or Treat fun! Be creative as you decorate, but please be sensitive to the age range of our students as well as our Catholic values; please do not make your trunk frightening or gory.

  • Trunk decorations can be simple or elaborate. It’s up to you!
  • Trunk decorations must be family-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive, objectionable or violent.
  • Trunk decorations may not contain weapons.
  • There will be no electricity so please keep that in mind.
  • How it works on Trunk or Treat day:
    • Vehicles will be admitted to the playground staring at 1:30pm on Saturday, October 27th to set up. Trunk or Treaters will be allowed to enter at 3:30pm. A parent must be with the vehicle at all times during Trunk or Treat from 3:30pm to 5:00pm. A parent or guardian must also be with their child while Trunk or Treating. For safety, children who are not members of your family should not enter your vehicle during the event. If a child is lost, hurt, or in need of help, please contact the nearest staff member so they can assist the child.
    • Interested?!? Great! Sign up today! Each vehicle will need to have a completed registration form to participate. After completing the form, kindly return to the School Office by October 22, 2018. You will then receive confirmation prior to the event.
