1. PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Dear OLMC Community,

Second semester is officially underway. It was great to welcome the students back to campus this week!

Registration for the 2019-2020 school year will begin January 30th. Attached are the tuition rates. Packets will come home with the students next Tuesday, January 22nd. If you do not belong to the parish and want to receive the In-Parish tuition rate, you need to take the Parish certification to your church as soon as possible. This will need to be returned with the registration packet.

Next Friday, support OLMC by purchasing pizza from Papa John’s. There are four locations willing to give 20% of the sale back to the school. Make it an even better deal and purchase your FFT prior to going to pick it up. After a long week of work, doesn’t a pizza sound great?!? Flyers will be sent home this week with locations. Thank you for your support!

Saturday night is Casino Night! Please stop by the office to purchase your tickets. I look forward to seeing you there!

The St. Vincent de Paul Food Drive begins this week. The flyer is attached.

Have a wonderful week,

Kelly Shewbridge

Principal

FIELD DAY

field day 2019

FIELD DAY NEEDS YOU!

It takes many volunteers to have a successful and fun day for the students.

Please consider spending the afternoon from 12:15 – 3:00 pm with us.

Field Day is an afternoon of fun and games for all the children at OLMC. We break the kids into three levels: K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. Each level is divided into groups of 4-6 children.  These children will then go to 15 different stations with their group and play a game against another group. We need at least 1-2 parents for each station at each level.  The games are not hard, and all instructions and materials and setup will be provided for you.

Home & School will provide lunch for each volunteer at 12:15.

Sign up by clicking this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0c4cabaf2fab9-field4

1. PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Dear OLMC Community,

I hope you have all had a restful and enjoyable Christmas break. I am excited to welcome the children back tomorrow. Even though they were only away from school for two weeks, they always seem to grow and change so much over the break! We have a lot of exciting things to look forward to this second semester.

On Monday, the kindergarteners will begin to play on their new playground! I appreciate everyone’s patience with this process. It looks wonderful. Thank you to Jeff Harb, owner of Harb Renovations, for all his hard work. Thank you also to the Dad’s Club who came out Tuesday night to help transport the old play set and clean up the playground. It looks amazing! I can’t wait to see the faces of the children and teachers when they see it!!

Report cards will be sent home on Wednesday, January 9th.

Friday, January 11this a half day Spirit Jeans Day. The children may wear their jeans and spirit shirts. They will be dismissed at 12:30.

Saturday, January 12this the HSPT for all the 8thgrade students who are applying to Catholic high schools.

Saturday, January 19ththe Dad’s Club will also be hosting Casino Night. If you have not had the opportunity to purchase your tickets, please stop by the office to do so. Additionally, we are still looking for sponsors. If you are willing to be a sponsor for the event, please let me know! Supporting Casino Night through your attendance or sponsorship is one way to help us raise the 20% we need for our portion of the Shea Grant. More about this fundraising is to come in future communication.

The last week of January is Catholic Schools Week. We will be looking for volunteers for Field Day on Tuesday, January 29th from noon to 3. We will also be collecting food for St. Vincent de Paul, and all the children will be working together to pack food boxes that week. As we get closer to Catholic Schools Week, an itinerary of all the events we have planned will be sent home.

Finally, as we begin the second semester, I want to take an opportunity to thank all our parent volunteers who give so much to the school. You truly help build community and enrich the experiences the children have here at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. If you have not had the opportunity to volunteer at the school, please stop by the office. We always have lots of things for you to do!

Happy New Year and God bless,

Kelly Shewbridge

Principal

PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Dear OLMC Community,

I wanted to begin by thanking all the volunteers and Dad’s Club for their assistance with the St. Nicholas breakfast. The children had a great time, as well as the adults! Thank you for all your efforts.

Spirit Week will begin on Monday! Please see the attached flyer. There are specifics for the dress code, so please take note.

Tuesday we will have a dress rehearsal for the Christmas program at 1:00 in the church. Parents and grandparents are welcome to come.

Wednesday evening will be the Christmas Program. The children may arrive in their classrooms beginning at 6:30pm. Prior to that they need to remain with their parents. The doors of the church will open at 6:30pm.

We will not have Mass on Wednesday. Mass will take place on the last day, Thursday, at 11:30. The children need to be in Mass uniform.

There will be no Learning Labs this week.

Dad’s Club is hosting Casino Night on January 19th. This is such a fun event and a great way to meet and get to know other parents. It is also an easy way to raise money for the school. Registration forms are in the office. They are also looking for sponsors for the event.

This will be the last Principal Corner for 2018. I want to wish all of you a very safe and blessed Christmas with your families.

STUFF THE STOCKINGS OF TEACHERS AND STAFF

Stuff the Stockings 2018-2It is that time of the year again, when we are starting to think about Christmas and gift giving. For those of you who are thinking about purchasing gifts for the teachers, specials teachers, and staff, the following information may help you with your planning.

We realize that each of us cannot contribute as much as our hearts desire, but combined we are able to provide nice gifts for our teachers and staff. In keeping with this tradition, we are taking up a Christmas collection that is strictly voluntary.

Attached you will find the names of the teachers, specials teachers, and staff of OLMC.  You may give an amount specifically to individuals by indicating so on the form, or you may mark the box indicating that your donation will be evenly distributed among all the names on the list.

If you choose to participate:

  • Complete the attached form
  • Enclose cash or check payable to OLMC
  • Return it to the school office by December 18th

If you have any questions, please contact the school office at 480-967-8791.
