1. PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Another OLMC Festival has come and gone. I hope all those that attended our “OLMC Fiesta” enjoyed themselves. The Festival is always a wonderful time to come together as a community and celebrate the remarkable relationships that exist as members of OLMC. I thank all our parent volunteers who make this event possible, especially those who chair the various portions of the event, putting in countless hours of their free time to benefit the school and students.

Voting for next year’s School Advisory Board positions will take place before and after school on Wednesday, April 25. Biographies of those parents who turned in nomination forms are included in this week’s newsletter. I encourage all parents to stop into the office on the 25thto vote for the candidates they would like to represent them on the board.

This is the last week for families to meet their FFT minimums for this year. Please stop in to the office this week to purchase your FFT.

4. School Advisory Board Nominations and Election

This year OLMC parents will elect a School Advisory Board(SAB) member for a three-year term. The election will take place Wednesday, April 25 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a ballot box located in the school office.

The SAB advises the pastor and principal on school related matters. The board’s major areas of work include development, enrollment, CEA, parent involvement, and faith formation. The SAB meets monthly during the school year with meetings lasting 1 hour to 90 minutes. In addition, committees may meet during the month.

On behalf of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish and School, thank you to all the volunteers who made yesterday’s festival possible. A special thanks to Festival Chairman Jamon Reval and our festival committee and section leads for your diligent work.

Your help and support is a shining example of the great things that happen when a community comes together. We truly appreciate the outpouring of time, talents, and treasure our families invest. Thank you to our generous sponsors and all those who donated items to make this year a rousing success. But especially thanks to all in attendance for another tremendously successful year!

Claim your Silent Auction Items

2-Liter Donation Jeans Day – 4/27

Each class that had 100% participation in donating 2-liter bottles of soda for this year’s festival ring toss has earned a jeans day on April 27th. Please check with your child’s teacher to see if your child qualifies. Thank you for your support!

School Advisory Board Member: Diana Heilman

Meet Diana. As a writer, editor, and social media manager, Diana brings her skills to OLMC via the OLMC Newsletter. Her 25 years as a parishioner, volunteer, and former student inspire her to give back to the community who nurtured her from such a young age. Now a wife and mother, Diana delights in parent involvement and serving others in ministry.

“I’m grateful to serve on the SAB with so many dedicated parents of all walks of life, bringing their unique perspectives to benefit the school. We’re blessed to have an administration who cares so much about the needs of each individual child and school family.”Diana Heilman

A School Advisory Member:

  • Promotes a clear understanding and communication of the mutual educational responsibility of parents, teachers, and the school’s administration to the OLMC school community.
  • Assists the principal and pastor in developing school policies.
  • Carries out activities related to school business.
  • Conducts regular board meetings and special meetings as may be appropriate.
  • Establishes standing and special committees and appoints non-board members to serve on such committees as may be appropriate.
  • Collaborates with other groups and organizations of the OLMC School community which are concerned with the operation of the school.
  • Reviews and carries out diocesan policies.
