1. PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Dear OLMC Community,

We had such a wonderful Catholic Schools Week. It would not have been so successful without the help of all our volunteers! Below is a recap of the week:

On Monday we began with Mass. It was wonderful to have so many parents stay to celebrate with us.

Field Day on Tuesday was great! Thank you to Home and School for providing free pizza and drinks for all the students, teachers and volunteers. Additionally, thank you so much for all the parents who took the day off to help. Finally, thank you also for all the orange donations. It took so many hands to make the day wonderful. Your time and donations are appreciated.

On Wednesday we had the Student Showcase. This was fantastic! The classrooms looked awesome and the children were so proud of their work! It was great to see so many families come out to support the children.

On Thursday we had an assembly about vocations with Fr. Sullivan and Sr. Monica. This was engaging and fun for all. The Faith Formation Committee planned this assembly, and it was very well done. Thank you!

Friday the children packed the St. Vincent de Paul boxes. Thank you so much for all your donations.

As I reflect upon this week, I cannot help but think how fortunate I am to belong to a community that gives back so much to the school and the surrounding community. These events would not have been possible if it were not for the help of so many. I cannot thank you enough.

Looking forward, we will have another fundraiser hosted by the Dad’s Club at Chipotle on Monday, February 4th. The location is 815 East Baseline Suite 118 from 4-8 pm. We have scrip too!

Please do not forget we will continue registration this week before and after school.

Have a wonderful week.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Shewbridge

Principal

5. 2019 OLMC FESTIVAL “CONNECT WITH US”

The 2019 OLMC “Connect with Us” Festival is right around the corner!

Saturday, April 6, 2019 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Each family is required to complete a minimum of six (6) service hours for the Festival. (Preschool ONLY families are required to complete a minimum of four (4) service hours for the Festival. If families have students in BOTH the preschool and the elementary school, six (6) service hours are required.) Two of the hours may be completed prior to the festival week, but at least four (4) hours must be completed between Monday, April 1 and Sunday, April 7, 2019.

Students may not fulfill the family service hour requirement; however, this is an excellent opportunity for high school students to earn service credit hours.

Please note, each family is obligated to complete the required Festival service hours or pay $100 for each uncompleted hour of service.

We are currently working on the Festival signup genius. Each school family will be assigned a Family ID, which will be included on the Festival packets when they are sent home with eldest siblings. This Family ID will be required to sign up for your family’s service hours on the Festival Signup Genius. This will help in tracking and reporting all family Festival service hours. For questions regarding service hours, please email Ashley Hall, Festival Volunteer Coordinator or Jamon Reval, our Festival Chairman.

On a side note, we will be opening the OLMC 30-Year Time Capsule after the Live Auction. Come see what the OLMC Class of 1989 added to the capsule.

THANK YOU, FIELD DAY VOLUNTEERS!

1. PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Dear OLMC Community,

This week we are celebrating Catholic Schools Week. I will touch on some of the highlights here, but please see below for the full schedule and more information.

Monday begins with Mass at 8 am, and all families are invited to attend. Please plan to have your students to school by 7:45am on Monday morning dressed in Mass attire. Upon arrival, students should drop their backpacks off outside their classrooms and then proceed to the church to join their classes for Mass. All students arriving after 8:00am will need to drop off their backpacks at McCready Hall,  and then they will be escorted to the church to sit with their classes.

For Tuesday’s Field Day, students should bring PE clothes (with the exception of the kindergarteners who can wear PE clothes to school). If you can, please volunteer to spend the afternoon with us, and/or donate oranges for Field Day snacks. Wednesday has regular school Mass at 2 p.m. and the Student Showcase from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday we have vocation and water cycle assemblies. Friday is a half day spirit day, and we will be packing boxes for the St. Vincent de Paul Food Drive. See below for the items each classroom has been asked to donate this month.

Thank you to everyone who ordered Papa Johns Pizza during Friday’s fundraiser. Proceeds will go toward the Invest in Our Future, Shea Family Charities Building Fund.

Finally, please note that Registration for the 2019-20 school year begins this week. Also, watch for two fun events coming up – the Dad’s Club Annual Father-Daughter Dance in February and a new event, the Mother-Son Kickball tournament, in March.

Dear OLMC Community,

I wanted to begin by saying what a hit Casino Night was on Saturday night! Thank you to the Dad’s Club for hosting such a fun night! Thank you to all who attended. Your support is appreciated!

We had the Spelling Bee this past Thursday. The winner was Madeline Pabst in 8thgrade and the runner up was Adam Wiertek in the 5thgrade. Congratulations to all the participants. They did great! Madeline will be participating in the Diocesan Spelling Bee on January 29th. We wish her the best!

On Back to School Night, Mrs. Kubicki gave information about signing up for FlockNote. We have been sending our text reminders of events at the school via this service. If you have not signed up for FlockNote there is a link below to do so. You may also go to the website www.olmcschool.info

Catholic Schools Week will begin on Sunday, January 27th. At the 9:00 am Mass on Sunday, we will have our school children doing the readings and bringing up the gifts. We ask that you have your child/children wear his/her uniforms. We will be giving tours after the 9 and 11 am Masses. If you know any potential OLMC families, please encourage them to attend.

On Monday, January 28thwe will begin the week with Mass at 8am. Please be cognizant of this change. The students will go from morning care into the Church and meet their teachers in their usual Mass seating. Parents, you are always welcome to stay and pray with us.

Due to the campus being closed this summer for renovations, there will be no summer care offered this year.

Do not forget the Papa John’s Pizza sale benefiting the school was moved to this Friday. You may also use your FFT gift cards to purchase the pizza. Thank you for your support!

On February 2ndArizona Catholic Schools Disabilities Fund (ACSDF) will be hosting a meeting for parents of students with exceptional needs. If you are interested the flyer is below.
