National Teacher Appreciation Week is May 1st through 5th, and Home & School would like to make the week extra special for our dedicated educators, in gratitude for all of their diligent work, for their loving encouragement, and for the profound difference they make in the lives of our children.

Your contributions and the simple acts listed above will help Home & School celebrate the hardworking professionals who offer their skills toward a worthy cause, Catholic education. On behalf of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, we’d like to thank all those who work in tandem with parents to raise a generation of faith-followers, responsible citizens, effective communicators, critical-thinkers, problem-solvers, and quality producers.

During the month of April, Home & School is conducting a Food for Thought contest to see which classroom can purchase the most FFT.
Currently the top three classes are:

There’s still time to purchase! The student, teacher, and class with the most FFT purchases by the end of the month wins a prize! Families with multiple children receive equal credit for each child. Winners will be announced May 3rd.

April 27th marks National Administrative Professionals Day, and at OLMC we’re blessed to have a top notch front office staff that ensures the office is running productively and efficiently throughout the school year.
Always going the extra mile, their hard work and dedication enrich our school in so many ways. On behalf of the OLMC Community we’d like to thank Mrs. Gina Watson and Mrs. Theresa Cornforth for their commitment and devotion to the people of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills with us for so many years.
If you see Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Cornforth on Thursday, wish them a very happy Administrative Professionals Day.
On Friday, April 28th, students who had $50.00 or more in kids’ raffle ticket sales may wear jeans and an OLMC spirit shirt. Your child’s teacher will have a list of those who qualify.
Please note that this is not a free dress day. For spirit dress day guidelines, please see our Parent/Student Handbook.
The School Advisory Board (SAB) election is Friday, April 28, 2017. Parents are asked to vote anytime between 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the school office. Voting will close at the end of the school day on April 28th. For more information please see our blog.
Student Council will be selling root beer floats Friday, April 28th after school. This will be the final student council sale of the year, so be sure to show your support. Cost is $1.50 with proceeds benefiting student council. Start your weekend off with a sweet reward!
The lunch menu for May is available on the Falcon Catering website. Please note that lunch is not offered on school holidays or half days.
Note: Please ensure checks are payable to Casey Productions LLC. You may write one check for all students ordering lunch.
Also, the deadline to order lunches is Saturday at 5:00 p.m. for the following week. In addition, you have the option to order for the entire month at a time. Please visit the website for ordering information.
There’s still time to reach your FFT minimum and/or pad your tuition rebate! Statements were sent in January via e-mail to families who have not met their $175.00 FFT profit minimum for the 2016-17 school year.
If you’re planning on paying off your tuition, please stop by the FFT office and our FFT representatives can tell you if you have a rebate coming. If you have not yet reached your profit minimum, you have until April 30, 2017 to fulfill this obligation. Any amount remaining after April 30th will be SurePayed on May 10, 2017.
Our last used uniform sale for the school year is scheduled for:
Tuesday, May 2, 2017
from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
in the courtyard between McCready Hall and the church
If you have uniforms to contribute to the sale, please turn them in to the office or bring them to the sale. Be sure to attach a sale slip, and indicate where the proceeds should go. Home & School is happy to accept proceeds as a donation.
OLMC school’s annual May Crowning Mass is scheduled for Friday, May 5th at 11:15 a.m. This special Mass, featuring our 8th grade students in cap and gown, is in lieu of our usual Wednesday school Mass.
May 5th is also a half day. Teachers will dismiss their students at 12:30 p.m. Please note that, while this is a half day, it is not a jeans day, and Mass attire is required. Please consult the parent handbook for dress code guidelines.
You appreciate the hard work your children’s teachers have put forth this school year to make learning exciting and fun. With Teacher Appreciation Week fast approaching, give them a gold star, and say thank you with a gift card for coffee, a nice meal out, or for a couple summer reading books!
