1. PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Dear OLMC Community,hermie

This Wednesday we will have our annual Trek through the Desert in preparation for Easter.  The Trek will begin around 8:45 a.m. and will be followed at 11:30 a.m. by the Living Stations of the Cross performed by our eighth graders. Please remember that dismissal on Wednesday is at 12:30. Any student still on campus at 12:45 will be sent to Kids Club.

There will be no learning labs on Tuesday this week.

I would ask that all parents remember that campus does not open until 7 a.m. for morning Kid’s Club. Please do not drop your students off prior to 7 a.m. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping the students safe.

Sincerely,

Bruce Hermie

Principal

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School

5. Trek through the DesertTrek Through the Desert

Students will participate in OLMC’s annual ‘Trek through the Desert’ on Wednesday, March 28. This is a school-wide reenactment of the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt in observance of Passover and the journey of God’s people to the promised land.

Students may get in the spirit of the day by dressing as the Hebrews of Moses’ time. Bathrobes, an old towel or sheet with a rope belt, or a cloth for a head covering with a tie or elastic headband can be worn over the school uniform. This is completely voluntary. All students should dress in regular uniforms for the day. Mass dress is not required.

Classes will be assigned to one of the 12 tribes of Israel, hear Old Testament readings, and reenact the Israelites’ flight from slavery. The journey will culminate in the church as the 8th graders present the Living Stations of the Cross. Families are welcome to participate.

1. PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Dear OLMC Community,hermie

On Thursday of last week, our eighth grade students traveled to Feed My Starving children to help pack food boxes for children in Thailand. I am always moved by the sight of our young men and women working together to positively impact the world around them and help those who are less fortunate. In total, the group at Feed My Starving Children packed nearly 200 boxes for those in need in about two hours of service. Thank you to our parent volunteers who came to support, assist, and take part with the students.

Congratulations to our sixth graders who put on a wonderful Greek Night performance last Wednesday. They prayed, danced, and performed their hearts out, bringing smiles to the faces of all in the audience.

Next Friday, the Home and School board will be hosting a Coffree to help kick-off the Festival season. Please stop in to enjoy coffee and a light breakfast and to see what this year’s Festival will offer.

Please remember that there is no school Monday. Friday is a half-day for teacher professional development. Dismissal is at 12:30, and any student not picked up by 12:45 will be sent to Kid’s Club. Students may wear jeans and OLMC spirit shirts next Friday.

Sincerely,

Bruce Hermie

Principal
