OLMC’s Major Fundraising Event
Our annual parish festival is OLMC’s major school and parish-wide fundraiser for the year. Because of the festival and Food for Thought scrip program, OLMC does not have to ask parents to purchase candy, wrapping paper, magazines, or any other fundraising items to keep tuition costs low.
The anticipated revenue from the festival is factored into the school’s budget, and on average, it makes each school family’s yearly tuition about $400.00 less than it would be otherwise, making OLMC’s tuition cost one of the lowest in the diocese.
OLMC Needs You!
Since this one event impacts our families in such a consequential way, our festival depends on ongoing parent volunteer support and resources.
It’s for this reason that OLMC requires each enrolled household to volunteer a set amount of hours toward the festival each year. The amount of hours is determined by our festival committee prior to the start of each school year, and—per the school contract—parents are fined for uncompleted hours.
Many schools have a volunteer requirement of up to 50 hours per year. At Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, we only ask a fraction of that amount toward this one important undertaking.
Community Fun and Fellowship
However, the festival’s importance is not merely financial; it also serves as a community builder. Parish and school, current and past families, students and graduates, staff, faculty, and community members alike all come together in the spirit of camaraderie and in the shared love of Christian ministry.
Not only is the festival the tie that binds us all together for the day, it’s just plain, old-fashioned fun for the whole family. From rides, games, and entertainment, to food, fun, and fellowship, this event is sure to be worth the months of feverish preparation.
