Falcon Five-2

1. Principal’s Corner

Dear OLMC Community,hermie

In setting up the field trip transportation schedule this week I was reminded of one of many great benefits of our FFT program. Your efforts in using the program thus far this year are greatly appreciated. Money from the FFT program not only provides for the cost of field trips, but this year it has also helped us update various projectors and document cameras on campus, pay for subscriptions to supplemental instructional materials for all classes, and enhanced the overall learning environment of the school. Thank you to all families who are working to meet their FFT goals. If you have not started yet and would like additional information, including information on the Shop With Scrip app available on your phone, please contact Cindy Younger at cindy@olmctempe.com  with any questions you may have.

On Tuesday, October 3rd, we will be hosting a seminar on How to Afford a Catholic Education. This seminar will provide helpful insights into using CEA and the Student Tuition Scholarship Organizations to help pay the cost of tuition. If you are interested in attending the session, please find the RSVP link on our website. This information will be helpful to current, future, and prospective families alike. If you have questions, please contact our Development Director, Kelly Kubicki, at kellykubicki@olmcschool.info.

Sincerely,

Bruce Hermie

Principal

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School

1. Principal’s Corner

Dear OLMC Community,hermie

This coming week students will take the ITBS standardized test. Each year our second through eighth grade students take the ITBS test as a barometer of where they stand in their academic growth. This year ITBS testing will take place the week of September 11th. During this time period, students will have limited homework as we place an emphasis on them being well rested and refreshed. In order to help your student(s) prepare, please make sure they are getting a good night sleep, eating a good breakfast, and arriving to school on time.  Should your student be absent, they will take the portion of testing they missed the week of September 18th.  Should your student arrive late, they must check in with the Nurse’s office prior to reporting to class.

Please remember that this coming Friday is a half-day for teacher professional development. Dismissal will be at 12:30 and any student who has not been picked up by 12:45 will be sent to Kid’s Club. This Friday is not a spirit dress day and students should be in their regular uniforms.

Sincerely,

Bruce Hermie

Principal

 4. Little Flowers/Little Women’s Clubslittle flowers

Are you looking for a fun-filled, faith-based club for girls?  OLMC is starting a Little Flowers’ Club (K-3rd Grade) and a Little Women’s Club (4th-6th Grade) in October.

Little Flowers’ Club is a Catholic club for girls that teaches virtues through scripture, saints’ biographies, prayer, song, crafts and fellowship. The Little Women’s program aims to teach young women virtues and life skills through saint and scripture study, practical life skills, and hospitality. The goal of our program is to introduce girls to the value of Christ-centered hospitality and the building of life-long friendships.

The first meeting will be held on Friday, October 6th at 12:30pm-2:30pm on campus.  Meetings will be twice each month on Fridays.  Registration forms and schedules have been sent home with students, but please feel free to let us know that you are interested by giving us your name, your student’s name and email at the attached link.  And, of course, we would LOVE your help! 1. Principal’s Corner

Dear OLMC Community,hermie

Safety and communication are two of our primary focuses at all times at OLMC. With this in mind, each year we test our Renweb Alert System to make sure the lines of communication are open in the event of an emergency. I ask that all parents login to Renweb over the next two to three days and make sure your contact information is up to date and accurate. Further details of this test will be sent out later next week.

As we enter the month of September, I would once again like to remind all volunteers that they must be Safe Environment Certified to be on campus around our students. If you are in need of taking the foundation course or simply need to take the video renewal online, please follow the link below to sign up for the course appropriate to you. We will be generating a list of our school volunteers to ensure that those on campus have completed this mandatory process for volunteering. If you have any questions, please contact our Safe Environment Coordinator, James Salas, at james@olmctempe.com.

I wish you all a peaceful and restful long weekend.
